Johan & Louise - A Stunning Andalusian Celebration at Cortijo Bravo
Cortijo Bravo sits in the hills east of Vélez-Málaga, where the Málaga province stretches away from the coast and the landscape becomes quieter and older. The estate has the feel of somewhere that has held celebrations for generations - the stone walls have a particular warmth, the shade of the olive grove is generous, and the light in September arrives at exactly the right angle to make everything glow.
Johan, from Sweden, and Louise, from the UK, had visited Andalucía together several years before their engagement and always known this was where they would marry. When they found Cortijo Bravo, it confirmed something they had both already felt: that the setting would do half the storytelling on its own.
We were with them for the full day. Preparations in the late morning light, with Louise getting ready in one of the estate's cool interior rooms while the first guests arrived outside. The ceremony took place under the old olive trees, with the Málaga hills as the horizon. We filmed and photographed the whole arc of the day - the quiet moments before, the long afternoon of eating and music, the evening that felt reluctant to end.
What Cortijo Bravo offers is something increasingly rare at wedding venues: genuine character. The textures are real - rough stone, worn wood, terracotta floors. The light is specific to that place and those hours. As photographers and filmmakers, it gave us everything. As a couple, Johan and Louise knew exactly what they had chosen.
For couples considering a rural, hacienda-style wedding in the Málaga countryside, Cortijo Bravo remains one of the most distinctive venues in the province. We know it well, and we are always glad to return.
