Getting married in Benalmádena
Benalmádena works well as a wedding destination for a number of reasons that are worth understanding before you commit to a venue. Its position on the coast - 20 minutes from Málaga airport and with direct transport links running the length of the Costa del Sol - makes it one of the most accessible locations for international guests. UK and Irish couples in particular find the town familiar, well-served, and easy to navigate.
The range of settings is the other significant factor. Very few municipalities on the coast offer a modern hilltop resort, a whitewashed pueblo, a marina, and a beachfront within the same 10-kilometre stretch. That variety means the day can move through genuinely different visual environments, and the photography reflects that movement in a way that a single-location day often cannot.
When to marry in Benalmádena
Late spring and early autumn are the strongest seasons. April through June and September through October offer warm, manageable temperatures, consistently good evening light, and venues that are not crowded with peak summer tourism. The light from around four o'clock through to sunset is exceptional in these months - long, warm and directional.
July and August are popular but require some planning. The afternoon heat on the coast is intense in peak summer, and ceremony timing matters: a six o'clock ceremony rather than a four o'clock one makes a significant difference to both comfort and photography conditions. Venues with shade infrastructure and sea breeze exposure - El Higuerón and the seafront hotels - are better placed for summer weddings than inland locations.
We cover wedding photography and cinematic wedding films across the full Benalmádena municipality. If you have a specific venue in mind and want an honest assessment of how it works through the different parts of the day, we are happy to share what we know before you commit.
You can see how this comes together in practice in Arthur and Dace's beach wedding in Benalmádena, which captures a full coastal day from ceremony to reception. If you are still in the early planning stages, our destination wedding guide for Spain covers logistics, venue types, and what to expect when planning from abroad.
